Simple Graphic Setting

unlike ubuntu and derivatives, change graphic server properties (driver and resolution video) in mandriva is very easy.

1. run mandriva control center or configure your computer from main menu > tools > system tools


2. choose hardware > set up the graphical server

3. automatically mandriva system detect and install then configure your video for graphical server. and you can change by click on it for advanced configuration.

4. adavaced configuration for graphic card driver

5. options advanced for graphical server

6. monitor advanced configuration tool

7. and so on.

8. from command line interface, you can configure it by typing command :

• mcc
• drakxconf
• XFdrake

9. and finally, you can still access the xorg.conf.

Microsoft China rips off Asia’s No. 1 Microblogging Service

Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but blatant theft of code, design, and UI elements is just not cool, especially when the infringing party is the biggest software company in the world. Yes, we’re talking about Microsoft. Blerg.

Here’s the short of what we think has happened:

Microsoft China officially launched its own microblogging service, MSN Juku/Hompy/Mclub, some time in November, 2009.
The service’s design and UI is by and large an EXACT copy of Plurk’s innovative left-right timeline scrolling navigation system. (see screen captures below)
Some 80% of the client and product codebase appears to be stolen directly from Plurk! (see evidence below).
Plurk was never approached nor collaborated in any capacity with MS on this service.
As a young startup, we’re stunned, shocked, and unsure what to do next and need your support and suggestions.
We were first tipped off by high profile bloggers and Taiwanese users of our community that Microsoft had just launched a new Chinese microblogging service that looked eerily similar to Plurk. Needless to say we were absolutely shocked and outraged when we first saw with our own eyes the cosmetic similarities Microsoft’s new offering had with Plurk. From the filter tabs, emoticons, qualifier/verb placement, Karma scoring system, media support, new user walkthroughs to pretty much everything else that gives Plurk its trademark appeal, Microsoft China’s offering ripped off our service. Aliens vs Predator Dilarang 'Berkeliaran'

Jakarta - Pelarangan pengedaran untuk sebuah video game kembali terjadi. Kali ini yang menjadi korban adalah game 'Aliens vs Predator' yang dilarang 'berkeliaran' di pasar game.

Adalah Australian Classifications Board (ACB) yang menetapkan keputusan tersebut. Menurut lembaga itu, game first person shooter ini sudah kelewat batas dalam menampilkan aksi kekerasan di dalam permainannya.

"Game itu berisi sudut pandang orang pertama, penggambaran karakternya ditampilkan dalam berbagai jenis kekerasan. Mulai dari pemenggalan kepala, serta tindak kekerasan lainnya seperti tusukan pada dada, mulut, tenggorokan, atau mata," sebut laporan ACB, dikutip detikINET dari Gamespot, Senin (7/12/2009).

Tak ayal, hal itu jelas dikhawatirkan dapat mempengaruhi perkembangan mental anak-anak yang memainkan game ini. Meski game ini sudah direkomendasikan untuk masuk ke dalam kategori game MA15+, dimana gamer yang bisa memainkannya harus berusia 15 tahun ke atas.

Rebellion sendiri, selaku pengembang game tersebut menyatakan enggan untuk melakukan revisi. Mereka tetap tegas dengan keputusannya, tidak mau membuat 'Aliens vs Predator' lebih ramah untuk dimainkan.

"Rebellion tentu kecewa dengan penolakan ini. Tapi bagaimanapun juga, kami coba mengerti aturan di negara tersebut. Kami juga setuju bahwa game ini tidak diperuntukkan bagi para gamer yang belum dewasa," tulis pernyataan Rebellion.

"Game ini memang penuh darah dan menegangkan. Namun kami tidak ingin membuat versi revisinya dengan membuat perbaikan di sana sini, sehingga para orang dewasa tak diijinkan pemerintah untuk memilih pilihan hiburan mereka sendiri," pungkasnya.

5 Kehebatan Google Chrome OS

1. Booting yang Cepat
Pichai menyebutkan bahwa Chrome OS sama seperti sebuah televisi saat dinyalakan. Tidak memiliki jeda waktu booting yang lama, karena tak memiliki aplikasi lokal yang membatasi ruang gerak hardware.


2. Masalah Keamanan
OS ini diintegrasikan dengan Chrome browser. Dengan demikian maka selayaknya browser, OS ini akan langsung mengupdate sistem keamanannya secara default. Hal ini masih ditambah lagi dengan penyimpanan data secara fisik dalam storage yang kini dirancang minimalis. Pasalnya semua data dapat disimpan secara online.


3. Dukung Arsitektur X86 dan ARM
Google berjanji untuk mengaplikasikan baik arsitektur X86, ARM dan code-code populer bagi netbook lainnya.


4. Menu Aplikasi
Sebuah aplikasi web yang baru kini dapat ditemui dalam menu aplikasi secara permanen pada Chrome OS ini. Hal ini akan membantu pengguna untuk mencari sebuah aplikasi baru langsung secara online. Selain memudahkan pengguna menu aplikasi ini juga menguntungkan pihak pengembang.


5. Akur dengan Microsoft Office
Walau Microsoft dengan Windows-nya merupakan pesaing berat mereka, namun Chrome OS ini ternyata juga mendukung dijalankannya dokumen office. Saat peluncuran Chorme OS, Pichai juga mendemokan bahwa Chrome dapat membuka sebuah dokumen via Microsoft office live. Microsoft office live adalah sebuah aplikasi web gratis bagi pengguna Windows live.

Saat pengguna membuka sebuah dokumen berekstensi .xls, Chorme OS akan langsung membuka Excel via Microsoft Office Live secara online.
